What are the risks?

Conduct:

  • Youth may send nude images to peers without understanding that the images can be forwarded or permanently posted online.
  • Once images are posted or sent online, the sender loses control of what happens to it. Photos/videos emailed to others can be reproduced, altered, or posted online without the subject's consent or knowledge.

Contact:

  • Sexual offenders may coerce children/adolescents to post nude or partially-clothed videos/images of themselves.
  • Sexual offenders may use previously sent images or videos to threaten a child/adolescent into sending additional sexually explicit images.
