What are the risks?

Kids may be exposed to inappropriate content online including sexually explicit and violent material, in the following ways:

  • Kids may enter what they believe to be the website address directly into the address bar rather than using a search engine. The address they use or the spelling may be incorrect, linking them to content which may be inappropriate for children, including sexually explicit or violent content.
  • Kids may spell search queries incorrectly in a search engine which may lead to results linking them to content which may be inappropriate for children, including sexually explicit or violent content.
